Interactive Computing and its Application in Arts and Sciences

This is first class of Interactive Computing and its Application in Arts and Sciences class

So, we talked about Course Description.

This course we will learn about how to design the embedded hardware and software system and integrate digital media technologies and interactive software into Museum, Exhibition and Dramatization. Teacher covers part of HCI (Human Computer Interaction), UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface Design) We learned about Museum design process and computing application between Digital media technology and user. The course will focus on discussion and finding the experience and ideas from the real exhibition or museum.

What is Interactive Computing?

  • Interactivity: a two-way flow of information between a computer and a computer-user.

  • Physical computing: starts by considering how humans express themselves physically and approach to learn how humans communicate through computers.

  • Interactivity + Physical computing: Hardware that can interact with human.

We are looking for something that we will invent it to better is not difficult because this course will be make me have a new vision to have new idea. But if we want to do new things, we must start to think out of the box by ourself.

My personally, I like this course very much because this course is unique and focused on experience. Knowledge is not only in the classroom, but we can learn from everywhere. It depends on we can see it or not. The Important things as we have to learn and travel in same time.

Thai Health Center

On 24 Jan 2014, I had an opportunity to visit the exhibition fair at the Thai Health. This is my first time visiting. I felt, from the entrance, the atmosphere is simple and there is nothing special. However, I’m first impressed with the bicycles parking orderly at the front of the building. I feel our world is green suddenly.

Once stepping into the building, the first thing I found is the receptionists who are so friendly and very good care of us. They took us walking through every zone smoothly. They gave me a brochure when noticing that I was taking note, saying that the brochure contains the important information of the key points.

This exhibition is divided into four rooms.

Room 1: “Start with ME”
"Some people allow the outside noise to disturb their inner heart that they abandon the dream of self-determination”.

Room 2: “Together WE can”
"Not only do for your own sake, but for the sake of the public creatively.

Room 3: “Let's go Green”
This room gathers all everything that is energy-saving and the useful tips we’ve never known.

Room 4: “THAIHEATH and Well-being
Thai Health for the happiness of the Thai people

This building was designed good for environment. So, I will give some example.

Floor's number is made from  milk paper.
Wall is decorated from left paper core.
Automatic fin can automatic turn around to protect the sunlight according to the sunlight direction.

In addition, we also visited the underground parking where the sunlight is utilised through the aluminum light pipe based on the Law of Reflection, starting from the upstream pipe installed outside the building and reflected back and forth until the downstream pipe at the parking area.

Furthermore, there included the sculptures as a symbol of building such as :
